Tegal Pesisir Carnival, or Tegal Coast Carnival, is an annual event as a reminder of Tegal City Anniversary. Participants in carnivals wear unique costumes according to the theme, and every year the theme is different. Participants start from children until adults, so everyone has a choice to participate in this carnival. Sea Alms
Sedekah laut, or in English, Sea Alms, is an annual event conducted by coastal communities, especially fishermen, as a form of gratitude to the One Almighty God by floating offerings to the sea. This event also became a medium to pray and entertain people. In this event, gamelan, shadow puppet performance, traditional dance, and entertainment stage are also included when the boats are floating offerings onto the sea. This event is conducted at the beginning of Javanese Suro month.

Toa Pe Kong
Every Chinese New Year, the Chinese community in Tegal City has their own tradition, known as Toa Pe Kong, or the parade of God statue. This tradition is conducted 15 days after Chinese New Year. Barongsai and Liong are opening requirements of Toa Pe Kong. During the parade, Toa Pe Kong will be carried, and it is believed that when carrying the God statue, there will be blessings of fortune and health. This point attracts tourists to come and participate in the celebration of Toa Pe Kong. Other traditions during Toa Pe Kong are giving angpao and a basket of sweet cakes, which symbolized the beauty of life.
