This snack is one of the most popular snacks in Tegal. Tahu aci can be enjoyed at any time, either in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Usually, tahu aci becomes a complimentary dish for tea or coffee. This snack is a yellow tofu that is cut diagonally into triangles, then in the white part of the tofu is added aci batter, which is made from starch, water, sliced chives, and seasoned, then it is fried until golden brown.

The outside texture is crispy and crunchy, while on the inside it is soft for the tofu and chewy for the aci, creating a unique texture. Usually, tahu aci is also served with fresh green chili peppers.

Es Sagwan

Es sagwan (also known as sagwan ice) is a traditional drink from Tegal that has a sweet taste. Es sagwan can be made from sagwan, which is a batter made from tapioca starch and sago starch mixed with water into dough, then shaped like a worm with a strainer and put into cold water. After the sagwan finished, it was served with ice, syrup or palm sugar, and condensed milk. Some people like to add sliced bread to es sagwan.
